Read this book

If you’ve been around me much lately you know I am a huge fan of Mark Batterson.  The thing I most love about him is his willingness to take risks and try new things.  I feel like he and I are kindred spirits.  After reading his first book, In a Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day I was inspired to pursue a dream I had been working on for years.  I guessed at Mark’s email address and asked him if he’d be part of the dream.  He agreed to do it and after meeting with him for a few minutes Summit Leaders began.  Next year he and I are leading a team on a four-day Inca Trail expedition.  The year after that it’s Mt. Kilimanjaro.  Advertisements aside, my point is this – Mark is gutsy.  He met me for a few minutes and agreed to let me take him into the remote Andes Mountains.  I’ll listen to guys like that.  So when his new book came out I was pumped.  I just finished it.

It’s called Primal.  The title alone makes me want to belt out a William Wallace scream – FREEDOM!   It’s about getting back to living according to the Great Commandment, namely, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.”  It’s about simplifying your faith.  It’s about getting excitement back into your walk with God.   And added bonus – Just reading the book makes you feel smarter.  It’s filled with powerful examples from psychology, physics, neurology and science all backed with a solid biblical foundation.  I love the book.

I know it’s a little late to be asking for Christmas presents.  But shoot a quick email to Santa and see if he can get it to you for a stocking stuffer.  You won’t be disappointed.

Here’s a link to it on amazon.com
