This works everywhere!

At 5:00am I was in a conversation with a hotel reservation lady in Scotland when a thought popped into my head:  Right now she is doing her job arranging my accommodations. She is 4000 miles away, but her mind is filled with dozens of fears and worries just like me.  People hide it in different ways, but everyone battles fear and worry.

The jerk driving way too fast in the Wal-Mart parking lot is afraid.  The sweet old man sitting on the bench at the park is worried.  We all want someone to care.

So when Jesus said, “Do unto other as you would have them do to you” he wasn’t saying play nice little boys and girls.  He was teaching a divine truth that will help you prosper in life.

Just as we are all afraid and worried; we all want to be a hero.  We all love the feeling we get when we help someone.  For a brief moment your worries are set aside and you are able to focus on a bigger picture.

When you show concern for another person you are helping more than just that person – you are helping yourself.  Sure, you are showing the other person that you care and recognize their struggles.  But you are also stepping outside of your little world and becoming a hero to another person.  Who doesn’t love being a hero?

If you can latch on to this truth it will take you places.  Keep your motives pure and care for people.  You’ll be amazed the doors that open for you.  Because important doors don’t just magically open – people open them.
