Jesus Thinks You’re Hot ?

I heard a song on Christian radio yesterday that went something like this:

I know you think you’re ugly
And are bummed about your body
But it’s all gonna be ok
‘Cause Jesus thinks you’re a hottie

A few observations:

  1. I am sure the writer had great intentions and a pure heart, but in my experience you will never convince someone they are beautiful by telling them over and over.  It actually creates a worse problem as they begin to judge their value by appearance.
  1. I have never met someone who has thrown themselves  into ongoing service of those who are less fortunate who has low self-esteem.  Tall, short, thin or large – the people who serve the most seem to have bigger things to worry about than how they look in a bathing suit.

Ephesians 2:8-10
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).  We can be confident in that.  But it’s not about us – it’s about bringing glory to the Father.  When we get going on the works God has called us to our self image is boosted because we are doing what we are made to do – bring him glory.  A tan, a six-pack, blonde hair or bulging biceps will never do it -only bringing God glory will bring satisfaction.

Just a thought.  But what do I know, my belly is getting big and my hair is thinning. J
