Keeping it Real Since 900BC

This morning I woke up.
I made the bed.
I fluffed the pillows.

I went to the coffee maker.
I removed the old soggy, brown filter.
I took it to the garbage can.
It dripped once on the way to dump it.
I knew it would, so I had my hand ready.
It always drips once.

I turned on the classical music channel on Pandora.
I checked my email.
The coffee maker gurgled in the background.

That was this morning.
Or maybe it was yesterday.
I’m not sure.
Every day seems to be the same sometimes.

The sun rises, and the sun goes down,
And hastens to the place where it rises.
All streams run to the sea, but the sea is not full
There they flow again.
(Ecclesiastes 1)

Keeping it real since 900 BC.
That’s when the guy that wrote Ecclesiastes lived.
He made it into the Bible.
But according to him his life was dull.

Maybe God wanted to remind us that life isn’t always going to be a rollercoaster.
I guess I should appreciate the consistency; life won’t always be this predictable.
Soon I’m sure I’ll be longing for those ‘good ole’ days of yore.

“But according to him his life was dull.” – Dull or meaningless?…or are these one in the same?
