When Will Everything Be Fine?

I’ve been scraping the floor of the house we are remodeling all morning.  The blade I’m using is really sharp, so I use gloves to protect my hands.  As I am cleaning up to leave I notice a small spot I missed.  I grab the razor and slice open my hand.

I stop at the grocery store for carrots and hummus.  The store is packed, but I notice there is no one in the 10-items-or-less lane.  I pause for a second to see who is calling.  I look up and someone who clearly doesn’t speak English has entered the line. She has way over 10 items. (Not that I was counting.)  The cashier has problems communicating something about a coupon, they call a manager.  So I wait.

I get home.  It’s the coolest it’s been in months.  The birds are chirping, a cool breeze is blowing.  I open the doors and prepare my salad.  I turn on the Handel Channel on Pandora.  I sit down to eat a peaceful lunch.  The man across the street who is never home fires up the loudest lawnmower I’ve ever heard in my life.

Sigh.

You know, if this life was all there is I’d be a seriously depressed individual.  It’s nice to know that one of these days we will be in a place where everything is perfect.  We had the chance here, but folks just like me messed it up.  I thank God that we will get another shot at living in perfect bliss.  Come quickly Jesus.

We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.  Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.  For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. Romans 8:22-25

Ya, that threatens to depress me everyday. This life pretty much sucks. I always have to remind myself that it’s coming, I just gotta be patient…and help other people get there too.

Hahahaha, I know it’s not a humorous post, but I’m imagining your frustrated (to say the least) reactions to all these things. This world is definitely depressing, even on good days. Praise God His faithfulness is my serotonin (side praise He created my body to produce enough).
