When In Doubt – Floor It!

A female sibling of mine who will remain nameless was driving through a torrential downpour when she found herself in a deep section of flooding.  She panicked and floored it hoping to get out of deep waters.  Needless to say, even after getting her car out of the shop three months later from a complete overhaul the baby blue Nissan Sentra was never the same again.

My dad asked her why she had chosen this course of action and she said, “I knew the water was deep so I figured the faster I went the quicker I’d get through it.”

I’ve found that a majority of people live their lives by that logic whether they realize it or not.  Most people tear through life never stopping to evaluate where they are heading or what they are doing.  When things get bad they decide to just go faster figuring it will get them out of trouble quicker.  “I don’t have time to ponder, life is happening too fast!”

May I propose that you don’t have time to NOT slow down.  We only get one shot at this deal called life.  God wants to lead and guide us, but he usually shows up as a still small voice. (1 Kings19:12)   You will not hear that voice if all eight cylinders are constantly revving – it’s too loud.  Slow down, take an hour to get quiet and ask God to show you the best way to navigate the high waters around you.
